Exclusive 2019 Update: VICTORY AT THE VA – West LA Veterans Administration master plan protects old nuclear dump from development
These disconcerting photographs clearly show soldiers’ tombstones in the West Los Angeles VA’s biomedical nuclear and chemical dump. It is a surreal and sad scene. Three days later, EnviroReporter.com‘s Michael Collins told Senator Diane Feinstein (D-California) and her district director, Trevor Daley, about the situation and offered to show the site to the two. Daley acknowledged this but apparently never followed up. Recent phone calls to the Senator’s office have not been returned.

One intact tombstone is partly suspended in air, held aloft by dumped rebar.
Hundreds of kids using the park can see the gravestones from MacArthur Field but apparently none noticed or, if they did, didn't inform authorities.
This incline in the dump is part of the land that supports the baseball fields of Barrington Recreational Center, above.
"Whaley" died on March 4, 1965. He served in the Army in World War I.
"Joseph H." was a private in the Army and was born in England May 8, 1893.
This Marine from New York fought in both World War I and II.
Twigs form a cross on the headstone of "William" from Kansas.
"Rodriguez" served in World War II and died in 1971.
"Philip" from Arkansas was born September 23, 1893 and served in World War I.
The filled-in ravine where part of the biomedical dump is located can be seen from where the gravestones are coming to the surface.
