
| WHEREAS, Michael Collins was born on January 28, 1957 in Walnut Creek and graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1975 and UCLA in 1980; and WHEREAS, Michael Collins has become one of the nation’s top investigative journalists, specializing in articles about major environmental issues and writing about various environmental controversies which may not have come to the public’s attention otherwise; and WHEREAS, among the many journalistic exploits of this investigative reporter in his investigation of pollution problems at the Chino Hills facility of munitions giant Aerojet; his groundbreaking investigation of the Ahmanson Ranch imbroglio; his expose of the contaminated soil of the proposed Runkle Canyon housing development in Simi Valley; and other investigations for which he has justly won great acclaim; and WHEREAS, Michael Collins has continued his remarkable career, his latest journalistic coup being his five- year investigation of the nuclear and chemical dump in Brentwood on VA property, and his latest journalistic initiative being the website, EnviroReporter.com which he manages along with his website creator, webmaster and editorial collaborator, Denise Anne Duffield. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ventura County Board of Supervisors does hereby honor Michael Collins on the occasion of his 50th birthday, and honors his many journalistic accomplishments, and a great career in investigative reporting which has established him as one of America’s greatest reporters.
