Interior Graph by Dale Ramicone from 7-31-11 to 10-03-11

We’ve conducted thousands of radiation readings of air, water, rain, food, drink and other media since Radiation Station went online March 15, 2011. We have tested numerous items, substances and sites to determine if Fukushima fallout has impacted them. Those special in-situ multi-media tests, many with video documentation, will continue to be posted here regularly as we report on our findings. We are also aided by our nine affiliated Radiation Stations which have undertaken nearly 2,000 special tests and reports which are ongoing.

September 1, 2014: EnviroReporter.com reaches more than 6,227 special tests and original reports including 2,247 measurements from nine affiliated Radiation Stations and 3,980 samples and radiation experiments from Radiation Station Santa Monica California. EnviroReporter.com has over 1,762,029 readers and more than 1,568,309 viewers along with the 19,616 people that have seen Radiation Station Glendale California‘s continuous online streaming. In excess of 175,931 folks have watched 88 original videos on our YouTube channel and we’ve received tens of thousands of Facebook ‘likes’ for our site, investigations and Facebook channel. We thank you for your support and for 6,842 considered comments that have sustained this award-winning online news organization.

EnviroReporter.com‘s Radiation Station continues to operate uninterrupted 24/7 since it began operation on the Ides of March, four days after the March 11, 2011 triple meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactors complex in Japan. Radiation Station Glendale California not only streams radiation readings live 24/7 but documents the results in a computer-generated graph for everyone to see.

EnviroReporter.com also has in-depth databases of information from Spring 2011 to the present including Special Radiation Station Testing, hundreds of originally-test food tests in Eat Me Receipts along with food and drink radiation testing from over a dozen nations in Radiation Food Lab. Additionally, seven Radiation Stations across America and Australia are monitoring ionization levels and conducting individual testing.

This comprehensive database has helped inform our numerous Radiation Station investigations and posts. Use of EnviroReporter.com-sourced scientific tests and observations has helped us know what is, and isn’t, hot in our environment and foodstuffs here in California and across the country. No other media outfit in the United States has the equipment, knowledge and know-how to perform and gather comprehensive testing databases of the ongoing triple meltdowns in Japan.

This database has informed numerous articles including Beta Watch, L.A. Rain Radiation Over Five Times Normal, Japanese Seaweed Radiation Doubles, A Radioactive Nightmare and No Place to Hide.

For over half a year once the Fukushima multiple meltdowns disaster began, EnviroReporter.com tallied ionizing events over 10-minute periods then dividing the total by 10 to get a really accurate count per minute or CPM. We began this testing well before any fallout from the Fukushima meltdowns could have impacted Southern California.

SEE SPECIAL RADIATION STATION TESTING of food, drink, rain, and other media conducted by EnviroReporter.com across Los Angeles and the Southwest United States.

This helped us establish a baseline background range in order to see any possible spikes in radiation should the Jet Stream finally carry the radiation to this area. Having created that baseline, we now are concentrating on specific radiation testing of multiple media in various locations and posting the results. These tests, often videotaped, are now far more important than repeated averaging. Our radiation monitor remains in service 24-7 for immediate and accurate radiation readings in the western area of the Greater Los Angeles Basin.

Our RadAlert Inspector Nuclear Radiation Monitor is located in EnviroReporter.com‘s Santa Monica office on the West Los Angeles border. Elevation 140 feet. The unit is approximately one meter off of the ground in a wood-floored structure built over crawlspace with soil foundation.

The Inspector picks up ionizing radiation and, in the setting you are seeing, is measuring in Counts Per Minute or CPM. Many radiation readings are taken in millirems per hour, or mR/hr. The conversion for the Inspector is 1 mR/hr = 3500 CPM.

SEE RADIATION STATION GRAPHS by Dale Ramicone which show half a year’s worth of Radiation Station tests documenting west Los Angeles Basin and special tests radiation.

We have been measuring in CPM because it is easier for most people to see the difference in radiation levels. The baseline external radiation background we’ve established for this location is 42 to 46 CPM which equals 0.012 to 0.013 mR/hr.

Radiation Station exterior ionization graph by Dale Ramicone

Here are the 10 minute averages we have recorded from our Santa Monica/West LA location from March 15 to September 6, 2011. Following that are exclusive special tests which also rely on 10 minute averages. The normal range is between 42 CPM to 46 CPM (0.012 mR/hr to 0.013 mR/hr) for Exterior readings. On July 13, 2011, after reviewing the data generated since March 15, 2011, we determined that the normal range for Interior readings was/is 35 CPM to 40 CPM.

Watch west Los Angeles Basin radiation readings LIVE at upper right at “LIVE Radiation Station” or refresh this page often to see a screen shot of the current average.

Note that none of our readings at Radiation Station Santa Monica are impacted by radon progeny as we discuss in Beta Watch.

Radiation Station Glendale California reported 23% above background at 1:30pm in cloudburst rain. Commenter Alan from Altadena California, about 20 miles northwest of Glendale, wrote this to us illustrating the variability of radiation readings within Southern California in this storm: “I measured a 10 min average of 106 CPM from rain that dripped off my roof on 2-28-14. The 10 min average from background was 41 CPM. Later in the day I measured a 10 min avg. of 91 CPM from a puddle. I wish my readings were as low as the ones in Glendale the same day. I took these measurements in the foothills of Altadena, CA at 2000 feet above sea level.”

5:55 pm INTERIOR BACKGROUND RADIATION STATION SANTA MONICA: 40.5 CPM^^

February 2, 2014
7:00 pm INT SANTA MONICA/WEST LOS ANGELES BASIN RAIN SAMPLE: 54.8 CPM^^ which is 19.4% HIGHER THAN BACKGROUND. This is a valid reading because it exceeds the Inspector Alert’s conservative +/-15% margin of error. However, this near background rain reading, like many before it that thankfully came in flatlining, illustrate a scientific point lost on Fukushima deniers: no radon progeny (daughters) is being detected or the samples from tonight and January 30, for example, or they would have had higher readings. The rain in Santa Monica and the Los Angeles Basin are not impacted by radon at all past an inconsequential amount. This radon potential map shows why, a fact we wrote about in the February 20, 2012 of the expose Beta Watch. So what’s the point in noting, once again, nothing over background? It’s to show the value of naught, zero, nothing. Radon progeny doesn’t generally impact the Golden State as this California radon map shows. With over 3,400 radiation tests at Radiation Station Santa Monica alone, we’ve measure ‘naught’ over background many times. What this all means it crucial to understanding the importance of our measurements: when we do hit something, like we did in Death Valley big time, we are hitting radiation coming from a source other than radon or natural background. Odds are that source is the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant in Japan with three ongoing and out of control nuclear meltdowns in progress. When our next Fukushima expose hits the virtual newsstands any day now, you’ll see why we are dealing with this radon daughter nonsense right now. Our exclusive discoveries are considerably hotter and more troubling than anything you’ve read anywhere that has been detected in the U.S. this year.

In Eagle Rock, we secured seaweed samples from Japan, China and Korea that were harvested before the triple meltdowns at Fukushima began. This gave us for the first time a small set of “control” samples. The results were illuminating.

A Japanese Sushi Nori by Eden tested at background as did a Chinese organic raw Sushi Nori by Earth Circle Organics.

Harvested before Fukushima. Testing at background also says no discernible “natural radiation” strongly suggests that at least a significant amount of overage radiation we’ve detected in seaweed we’ve tested from last August and more recently was and is from Fukushima.

We also test a “dried kelp” harvested off the southeast coast of South Korea in Busan that was gathered pre-Fukushima:
